Maranhão, e o que eu tenho a dizer é que esta visita foi muito importante para
continuar a percorrer a história, a contínua ligação entre o Maranhão e
Portugal, que vem desde a altura em que os portugueses chegaram pela primeira
vez aqui a São Luís do Maranhão. O que nós queremos é continuar a alimentar
esta ligação entre Portugal e o Brasil, neste caso concreto o Maranhão, e
queremos também aqui honrar essa história e todo o esforço dos povos deste
território para se desenvolver e manter essa ligação com Portugal. Mesmo em
situações difíceis, esta ligação e esta amizade conseguiu ser preservada e o
que estamos nós, hoje, mais uma vez, é reavivar essa ligação e a valorizá-la”,
explicou.
O embaixador de Portugal no Brasil, Luís Faro
Ramos, também esteve presente. Na capital maranhense, o grupo conheceu as
instalações da sede do governo estadual.
